Multi-Age 1/2 Classroom Blog

                  The children are having a great time exploring forms of non-standard measurement.  This week we have read books and discussed ways in which we can measure different things.  We have measured classroom objects (including people!) with other objects.  For young children, measurement activities should focus on what it means to measure.  We will over time learn how to measure using a variety of  tools.  You can continue this learning at home by providing opportunities for your child to measure things in their world.  Ask them about their thinking; what they are understanding along with what their conclusions are and why they believe what they do.  Enjoy the journey!

We are very new to this form of communication so you must bear with us as we learn!  We know that all parents are not able to come in to the classroom as often as they’d like and hope that this Blog allows you to “visit” in a different manner.  We will post photos and some videos as often as we can and hope that you visit often to read about what your children are learning and see how we learn together.  Feel free to send us messages about what you’d like to see more of.  Off we go!
